Community NotesWhen disasters or crises hits communities, libraries are called upon to collect the stories and social media content that document the tragedy. If a crisis hits your community, would you be ready to respond? This tabletop exercise will assess your readiness for such challenges and help you to level up your preparedness.
In this session we'll be running through an emergency planning exercise, adapted for digital collecting and library needs. This is a discussion-based exercise, where you'll break out into small groups to discuss roles and responses to a particular crisis situation. We'll be guiding participants through a fantasy scenario, based on a modern day example. This exercise is meant to provide a fun and safe environment for discussing difficult content, however, some topics in the scenario and in people's personal experiences may be difficult to hear and difficult to talk about. Following the exercise, we will share useful resources and send participants home with knowledge on how to prepare for an emergency digital collecting event.
Prior to the session, we will post the scenario documents here for accessibility purposes, but in order for the scenario to work well, we ask attendents not to read materials in advance. After the session, all documents and additional resources will be included here.

Please do not read materials in advance of session.
